Abdullah bin Shaqiq says: One day, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon to us after Asr, until the sun set and the stars began to appear. People started calling out: "Pray, pray." Among the people was a man from Banu Tamim, he also began to say: "Prayer, prayer." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) became angry and said: "Are you teaching me the Sunnah? I was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he combined and performed Zuhr and Asr, and Maghrib and Isha." Abdullah bin Shaqiq says: I began to feel (doubt and amazement) in my heart, so I met Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him about this issue, and he also agreed with him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out on a journey, and this was the incident of the Battle of Tabuk. The narrator says: I asked, "What prompted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to do this?" He replied: The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) intention was that he did not want to cause hardship for his Ummah.
