It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you return from a journey at night, do not go to your family until the wife of the absent husband has used a razor (shaved the pubic hair) and the disheveled-haired woman has combed her hair. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a man from coming to his family at night (after returning from a journey), lest he search for their betrayal or seek an opportunity to find their mistake.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that once he returned from a journey at night and hurriedly went to his wife. He saw that there was a lamp in the house and there was a person with his wife. So he picked up his sword, but in the meantime, his wife said: Step back, this is such-and-such woman, she was combing my hair. Then he went to the Noble Prophet and related the whole matter. (Upon hearing this) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that a man should come to his family at night.
