بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي رَكْعَتَيْ الْفَجْرِ وَفَضْلِهِمَا وَتَأْكِيدِهِمَا
Chapter on the Two Units of Fajr, Their Virtue, and Emphasis
Hadith 2091
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ قَالَ: ((هُمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا جَمِيعًا))
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the two rak'ahs before Fajr, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said about them: These two rak'ahs are more beloved to me than the whole world.
Hadith 2092
وَعَنْهَا أَيْضًا قَالَتْ: مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْرَعَ مِنْهُ إِلَى رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ وَلَا إِلَى غَنِيمَةٍ يَطْلُبُهَا
It is also narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I have not seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) hasten towards anything as quickly as he would towards the two rak'ahs before the Fajr prayer, nor did he hasten so much even to obtain any booty.
Hadith 2093
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((لَا تَدْعُوا رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ وَإِنْ طَرَدَتْكُمُ الْخَيْلُ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not abandon the two Sunnah (units) of Fajr under any circumstances, even if a group of (enemy) horsemen is pursuing you.
Hadith 2094
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِشَيْءٍ مِنَ النَّوَافِلِ أَشَدَّ مُعَاهَدَةً مِنَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not adhere to any voluntary prayer as regularly as he did to the two rak'ahs before the Fajr prayer.
Hadith 2095
عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا): مَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ؟ قَالَتْ: كَانَ يُصَلِّي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ
Shurayh says: I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do before leaving the house. She said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray two rak'ahs, then he would leave.
Hadith 2096
عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ نُبَيْطٍ قَالَ كَانَ أَبِي وَجَدِّي وَعَمِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ عَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ عَلَى جَمَلٍ أَحْمَرَ، قَالَ سَلَمَةُ: أَوْصَانِي أَبِي بِصَلَاةِ السَّحَرِ، قُلْتُ: يَا أَبَتِ! إِنِّي لَا أُطِيقُهَا، قَالَ: فَانْظُرِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ فَلَا تَدَعَنَّهُمَا، وَلَا تَشْخَصْ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ
Salamah bin Nabit says: My father, grandfather, and uncle were with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). My father said: I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon on the day of Arafah in the afternoon, riding a red camel. Then my father instructed me to perform the Tahajjud prayer, but I said: Father! I do not have enough strength for it. Upon hearing this, he said: Then at least be mindful of the two rak‘ahs before Fajr and never abandon them, and do not expose yourself during times of tribulation.
