بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي سَجْدَةِ الشُّكْرِ
Chapter on the Prostration of Gratitude
Hadith 2029
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَارِجًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ) فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ نَخْلًا فَسَجَدَ فَأَطَالَ السُّجُودَ، حَتَّى خِفْتُ أَوْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ اللَّهُ قَدْ تَوَفَّاهُ أَوْ قَبَضَهُ، قَالَ: فَجِئْتُ أَنْظُرُ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ، فَقَالَ: ((مَا لَكَ يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ؟)) قَالَ: فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: ((إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ قَالَ لِي: أَلَا أُبَشِّرُكَ؟ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ لَكَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I entered the mosque and when I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) coming out of the mosque, I followed behind him, until he entered a date-palm garden and performed a prostration, and he remained in prostration for so long that I began to fear that Allah Almighty had caused him (peace and blessings be upon him) to pass away. So I came close to him (peace and blessings be upon him) to see him, and at that moment he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head and said: O Abdur Rahman! What has happened to you? I told him (peace and blessings be upon him) the whole matter. Upon hearing this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jibreel (peace be upon him) said to me: Shall I not give you the glad tidings that Allah Almighty has said to you that whoever sends blessings upon you, I will send mercy upon him, and whoever sends peace upon you, I will send peace upon him.
Hadith 2030
(وَمِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَوَجَّهَ نَحْوَ صَدَفَتِهِ فَدَخَلَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَخَرَّ سَاجِدًا فَأَطَالَ السُّجُودَ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَبَضَ نَفْسَهُ فِيهَا، فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ فَجَلَسْتُ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ: ((مَنْ هَٰذَا؟)) قُلْتُ: عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: ((مَا شَأْنُكَ؟)) قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! سَجَدْتَّ سَجْدَةً خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ قَبَضَ نَفْسَكَ فِيهَا، فَقَالَ: ((إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ أَتَانِي فَبَشَّرَنِي فَقَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ: مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْهِ، وَمَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَسَجَدْتُّ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ شُكْرًا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out towards the tall date palms, entered among them, and fell into prostration facing the Qiblah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) remained in prostration for so long that I began to think that Allah Almighty had taken his soul. In any case, I sat down near him, and then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head and said: Who is this? I said: Abdur Rahman. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What happened to you? I said: O Messenger of Allah! You performed such a long prostration that I feared Allah Almighty had caused you to pass away. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The matter is that Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and gave me this glad tidings: Allah Almighty says: Whoever prays for mercy upon you, I will send mercy upon him, and whoever sends peace upon you, I will send peace upon him. So I prostrated to Allah Almighty in gratitude.
Hadith 2031
عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاهُ بَشِيرٌ يُبَشِّرُهُ بِظَفَرِ جُنْدٍ لَهُ عَلَى عَدُوِّهِ وَرَأْسُهُ فِي حِجْرِ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَقَامَ فَخَرَّ سَاجِدًا، ثُمَّ أَنْشَأَ يُسَائِلُ الْبَشِيرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فِيمَا أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ وَلِيَ أَمْرِهِمُ امْرَأَةٌ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((الْآنَ هَلَكَتِ الرِّجَالُ إِذَا أَطَاعَتِ النِّسَاءُ، هَلَكَتِ الرِّجَالُ إِذَا أَطَاعَتِ النِّسَاءُ)) ثَلَاثًا
It is narrated from Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a bearer of glad tidings came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He came to give the good news that the Prophet’s army had prevailed over the enemy. At that time, the head of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the lap of Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) got up and fell into prostration, then began to question and answer with the bearer of glad tidings. He told various things, among which was that a woman had become the ruler of their governmental affairs. Upon hearing this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Now those men have perished who have begun to obey women, those men have perished who have begun to obey women. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement three times.
