It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ended the prayer after three rak‘ahs of ‘Asr and then got up and went home. A man, who was called Kharbaq and had long hands, got up and went towards the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him, he made this matter clear to him. Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned and said: Is he speaking the truth? The people said: Yes! So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the rak‘ah that had been left, then gave salam, then performed two prostrations, and then gave salam again.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Hudaij (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led a prayer one day and after saying salam, he left, while one rak‘ah of that prayer was still remaining. A man met him and said: You have forgotten one rak‘ah of the prayer. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) re-entered the mosque and ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), so he established the prayer, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in one rak‘ah of prayer. When I told this to the people, they began to ask me: Do you recognize that man? I said: No, but if I see him, I will recognize him. Just then, he passed by me, and I said: This is the man. The people said: This is Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him).
