بَابُ جَوَازِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْمُخَطَّطِ وَفِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَفِي ثَوْبٍ بَعْضُهُ عَلَى
Chapter on the Permissibility of Praying in a Striped Garment, in a Single Garment, or in a Garment Partly Covering
Hadith 1960
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى فِي بُرْدَةٍ حِبْرَةٍ قَالَ أَحْسَبُهُ عَقَدَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, prayed in a striped Yemeni sheet. I think that he, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, had tied a knot between its two ends.
Hadith 1961
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: آخِرُ صَلَاةٍ صَلَّاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ صَلَّى فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that the last prayer which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed with the people, following Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), was in a single garment, with which he (peace and blessings be upon him) had made a stripe.
Hadith 1962
عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُلْتَحِفًا وَرِدَاؤُهُ مَوْضُوعٌ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: تُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي هَٰكَذَا
Ibrahim bin Abu Rabiah says: We entered upon Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and he was praying wrapped in a single cloth, while his sheet was placed separately. I said: Do you pray in a single cloth? He said: Indeed, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in this manner.
Hadith 1963
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فَلْيُخَالِفْ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ فَلْيَجْعَلْ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ))
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person prays in a single garment, he should place its two ends opposite each other and put its ends over his shoulders.
Hadith 1964
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى وَعَلَيْهِ مِرْطٌ لِبَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ وَعَلَيْهَا بَعْضُهُ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ أُرَاهُ قَالَ حَائِضٌ
It is narrated from Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) performed prayer while he had a cloak belonging to one of his wives over him, and a part of it was over that wife. Sufyan says: I think he said that she was menstruating.
Hadith 1965
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادِ بْنِ الْهَادِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَكُونُ حَائِضًا وَهِي مُفْتَرِشَةٌ بِحِذَاءِ مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى خُمْرَتِهِ إِذَا سَجَدَ أَصَابَنِي طَرَفُ ثَوْبِهِ
Abdullah bin Shaddad bin Haad says: I heard my maternal aunt, the wife of the Messenger, Lady Maymunah bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her), narrate that she would be menstruating and lying in front of the place of prostration of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), while he would be praying on his mat. When he would prostrate, an edge of his garment would touch me.
Hadith 1966
(وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَأَنَا نَائِمَةٌ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ، فَإِذَا سَجَدَ أَصَابَنِي ثِيَابُهُ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ
(Second chain) She says: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would get up and pray at night while I would be sleeping at his side. When he would prostrate, his clothes would touch me, while I was menstruating.
