Hadith 1770
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Qunoot continuously for one month in the prayers of Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr. When he would say "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah" in the last rak'ah, he would perform this Qunoot, in which he would supplicate against the tribes of Banu Sulaym: Ri'l, Dhakwan, and 'Usayyah, and the followers behind him would say Ameen. The reason for this was that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had sent some companions to these people to invite them to Islam, but they killed them. In his narration, Affan said that Ikrimah used to say that this was the reason for the beginning of this Qunoot.
Hadith 1771
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ أَوْ يَدْعُو لِأَحَدٍ قَنَتَ بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ فَرُبَّمَا قَالَ: إِذَا قَالَ: ((سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ، وَسَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، وَعَيَّاشَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ، وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْدُدْ وَطْأَتَكَ عَلَى مُضَرَ وَاجْعَلْهَا سِنِينَ كَسِنِينِ يُوسُفَ)) قَالَ يَجْهَرُ بِذَلِكَ، وَيَقُولُ فِي بَعْضِ صَلَاتِهِ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ، اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا حَيَّيْنِ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ}
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to supplicate against someone or to pray for someone, he would perform Qunoot after bowing (ruku‘). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had said: “Sami‘a Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal hamd,” he would supplicate in this way: “O Allah! Grant deliverance to Walid bin Walid, Salamah bin Hisham, ‘Ayyash bin Abi Rabi‘ah, and the weak believers. O Allah! Intensify Your punishment upon the tribe of Mudar and make it upon them like the famine of Yusuf (peace be upon him).” He (peace and blessings be upon him) would make this supplication aloud, and in the Fajr prayer, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would supplicate thus: “O Allah! Curse so-and-so and so-and-so (two Arab tribes),” until Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: (O Prophet!) You have no part in the decision; whether He turns to them in mercy or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers.
