بَابُ الْقُنُوتِ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَصَلَوَاتٍ أُخْرَى
Chapter on Qunoot in Dhuhr and Other Prayers
Hadith 1766
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَدْعُو فِي دُبُرِ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ: ((اللَّهُمَّ خَلِّصِ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ، وَسَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، وَعَيَّاشَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ، وَضَعَفَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِنْ أَيْدِي الْمُشْرِكِينَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلًا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to supplicate at the end of the Zuhr prayer: O Allah! Grant deliverance to Waleed bin Waleed, Salamah bin Hisham, Ayyash bin Rabee’ah, and the weak Muslims who have neither the power to devise a plan nor find any way to escape.
Hadith 1767
عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَنَتَ فِي الصُّبْحِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Qunoot in the Fajr and Maghrib prayers.
Hadith 1768
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ الْأَخِيرَةِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ قَنَتَ وَقَالَ: ((اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ عَيَّاشَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةً، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْدُدْ وَطْأَتَكَ عَلَى مُضَرَ، اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهَا سِنِينَ كَسِنِينِ يُوسُفَ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from the last bowing (ruku') in the 'Isha prayer, he would recite Qunoot and say: O Allah! Grant salvation to Walid bin Walid, O Allah! Grant salvation to Salamah bin Hisham, O Allah! Grant salvation to 'Ayyash bin Abi Rabi'ah, O Allah! Grant salvation to the weak believers, O Allah! Intensify Your punishment upon Mudar, O Allah! Make it a famine upon them like the famine during the time of Yusuf (peace be upon him).
Hadith 1769
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا أَبُو قُطْنٍ وَأَبُو عَامِرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي الدَّسْتَوَائِيَّ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: وَاللَّهِ لَأُقَرِّبَنَّ لَكُمْ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ إِنِّي لَأَقْرَبُكُمْ صَلَاةَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ) قَالَ فَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقْنُتُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْآخِرَةِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَصَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ وَصَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ، قَالَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ وَصَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ بَعْدَ مَا يَقُولُ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ وَيَدْعُو لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَيَلْعَنُ الْكُفَّارَ، قَالَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ وَيَلْعَنُ الْكَافِرِينَ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: By Allah! I will surely present the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) before you. In one narration it is stated: Indeed, in terms of prayer, I am the closest among you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Thus, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite Qunoot in the last rak‘ah of Zuhr, ‘Isha, and Fajr prayers. When he would say "Sami‘a Allahu liman hamidah," he would supplicate for the believers and invoke curses upon the disbelievers.
