Hadith 1707
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from bowing (ruku‘), he would recite: "Sami‘a Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka al-hamd mil’a as-samawati wal-ard wa ma baynahuma wa mil’a ma shi’ta min shay’in ba‘d." (Allah has heard the one who praised Him. Our Lord! And to You belongs all praise, as much as would fill the heavens, the earth, and what is between them, and as much as would fill whatever else You will after that.)
Hadith 1708
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, the narrator says that I think he narrated it as marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet), that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from ruku‘, he would say: “Sami‘a Allahu liman hamidah, Allahumma Rabbana lakal hamd mil’as-samā’i wa mil’al-ard wa mil’a ma shi’ta min shay’in ba‘d.” (Allah has heard the one who praised Him. O Allah! O our Lord! To You alone belongs all praise, as much as fills the heavens, as much as fills the earth, and as much as fills whatever else You will after that.)
Hadith 1710
(Second chain) When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from bowing (ruku‘), he would say: “O Allah! All praise is for You, as much as fills the heavens and fills the earth and fills whatever else You will after that. O Allah! Purify me with snow, hail, and cold water. O Allah! Cleanse me from sins and purify me from them as a white garment is cleansed from dirt.”
Hadith 1711
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When the Imam says "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah" and after that the follower says "Allahumma Rabbana lakal hamd," his past sins are forgiven.
Hadith 1712
(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When the imam says "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah," you should say "Allahumma Rabbana lakal hamd." So whoever's words coincide with the words of the angels, his past sins will be forgiven.
Hadith 1713
Sayyiduna Rifa’ah bin Rafi’ Zurqi رضي الله عنه says: One day we were praying behind the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم. When he صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم raised his head from bowing and said, “Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah,” a man behind him said these words: “Rabbana lakal hamdu hamdan kathiran tayyiban mubarakan fihi.” When the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم finished, he asked: Who was the one who just now said these words? That man said: O Messenger of Allah! It was I. He صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said: Indeed, I saw thirty-four or thirty-five angels rushing towards these words, as to who would write them first.
Hadith 1714
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Among all of you, I resemble the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the most in prayer. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah," he would then say "Allahumma Rabbana wa lakal hamd." And when he (peace and blessings be upon him) would bow (in ruku'), stand up from prostration, and raise his head from the two prostrations, he would say the takbir.
Hadith 1715
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say after bowing (ruku):
"O Allah! Our Lord! To You belongs all praise, as much as fills the heavens, as much as fills the earth, and as much as fills whatever else You will after that. O Possessor of praise and glory! You are most deserving of what the servant says, and all of us are Your servants. There is none who can withhold what You give, and no one of might can benefit from his might against You."
