Hadith 1638
عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى خَلْفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَمِعَهُ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ {قٓ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ} وَ {يٰسٓ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ}
A resident of Madinah Munawwarah says that he performed prayer behind the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting Surah Qaf and Surah Yaseen in the Fajr prayer.
Hadith 1639
عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ {إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ} وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: {وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ}
Sayyiduna Amr bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting Surah At-Takweer in the Fajr prayer, and in it he (peace and blessings be upon him) also recited this verse: {وَاللَّیْلِ إِذَاعَسْعَسَ}
Hadith 1640
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقْرَأُ {لَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ، الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ}
(Second chain of narration) He said: I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I heard him reciting these verses: {لاَ أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ۔ الْجَوَارِ الْکُنَّسِ}
Hadith 1641
عَنْ قُطْبَةَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ {وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ}
Sayyiduna Qutbah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting this verse in the Fajr prayer: {وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ}.
Hadith 1642
عَنْ أُمِّ هِشَامٍ بِنْتِ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: مَا أَخَذْتُ {قٓ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ} إِلَّا مِنْ وَرَاءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ، كَانَ يُصَلِّي بِهَا فِي الصُّبْحِ
Umm Hisham bint Harithah bin Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I did not memorize Surah Qaf except while standing behind the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), because he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite it in the Fajr prayer.
Hadith 1643
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتَقَارِبَةً وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ حَتَّى كَانَ عُمَرُ فَمَدَّ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to be moderate, and the prayer of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was also like that, until Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and he lengthened the standing (qiyam) in the Fajr prayer.
Hadith 1644
عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: كَانَ يُخَفِّفُ وَلَا يُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ هَؤُلَاءِ، قَالَ وَنَبَّأَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ بِـ {قٓ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ} وَنَحْوِهَا
Simak bin Harb says: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) about the prayer of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lighten (the prayer) and did not pray like the people of today. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Qaf and similar surahs in the Fajr prayer.
Hadith 1645
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي الصَّلَوَاتِ كَنَحْوٍ مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمُ الَّتِي تُصَلُّونَ الْيَوْمَ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ يُخَفِّفُ، كَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ أَخَفَّ مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمْ، وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ الْوَاقِعَةَ وَنَحْوَهَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The prayers that you perform today, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also used to perform prayers in the same manner, except that he would lighten them; his (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer was lighter compared to your prayer, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-Waqi'ah and similar surahs in the Fajr prayer.
Hadith 1646
عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ بِالسِّتِّينَ إِلَى الْمِائَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Barzah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite sixty to one hundred verses in the Fajr prayer.
Hadith 1647
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ {الٓم تَنْزِيلُ} وَ {هَلْ أَتَى}، وَفِي الْجُمُعَةِ سُورَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَ {إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ}
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Ad-Dahr in the Fajr prayer on Friday, and Surah Al-Jumu'ah and Surah Al-Munafiqun in the Friday (Jumu'ah) prayer.
Hadith 1648
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَرَأَ السَّجْدَةَ فِي الْمَكْتُوبَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, he says: I offered prayer behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, three times, and he, peace and blessings be upon him, recited Surah As-Sajdah in the obligatory prayers.
