Hadith 1626
Sayyiduna Jubair bin Mut’im (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the (prisoner) polytheists of Badr, at that time he was not a Muslim. He says: When I reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he was leading the Maghrib prayer and reciting Surah At-Tur in it. Listening to this Qur’an, I felt as if my heart was about to burst.
Hadith 1627
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Marwan: What is the reason that I hear you reciting only short surahs in the Maghrib prayer? I saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite one of the two long surahs in this prayer. Ibn Abi Mulaykah says: I asked 'Urwah: What is meant by one of the two long surahs? He said: That is Surah Al-A'raf.
Hadith 1628
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub or Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) recited Surah Al-A'raf in the two rak'ahs of Maghrib.
Hadith 1629
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Sayyida Umm Fadl bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) heard me reciting Surah Al-Mursalat and said: O my dear son! By reciting this Surah, you have reminded me (of this matter) that this is the last Surah which I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting in the Maghrib prayer.
Hadith 1630
Sayyida Umm Fadl bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) led us in the Maghrib prayer in his house, wrapped in a cloth, and recited Surah Al-Mursalat. After that, he did not perform any prayer until he passed away.
Hadith 1631
Hanzalah Sudusi says: I said to Ikrimah that I recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas in the Maghrib prayer, but people find fault with me for this. He said: There is no harm in this, you can recite them, because they are from the Qur'an. Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) even narrated this hadith to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and prayed two rak'ahs and in them he recited only Surah Al-Fatihah.
Hadith 1632
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I clung to the footsteps of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Teach me Surah Hud and Surah Yusuf. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: O Uqbah bin Amir! No surah has been recited that is more beloved to Allah Almighty and more eloquent, except Surah al-Falaq. (After hearing this hadith) Abu Imran never left this surah and would always recite it in the Maghrib prayer.
