Hadith 1603
Abdullah bin Shaqiq says: I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would combine multiple surahs in one rak'ah. She replied: He would combine the Mufassal (surahs).
Hadith 1604
Nafi' says: Sometimes, while leading us in obligatory prayer, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would combine two or more surahs.
Hadith 1605
Nuhaiq bin Sinan Salmi says: I came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I recited the Mufassal surahs in one rak'ah at night. He said: You must have recited quickly like reading poetry or scattering inferior dates. The Qur'an has been detailed so that you may also recite its words slowly and deliberately. Indeed, I know those twenty similar surahs which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to combine and recite. According to the compilation of Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), it is mentioned to recite Surah Rahman and Surah Najm in one rak'ah, then Surah Dukhan and Surah {عَمَّ یَتَسَاءَ لُونَ} in one rak'ah.
Hadith 1606
. (Second chain) A man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I have recited the Mufassal surahs in one rak'ah. He said: Then you must have recited quickly like the recitation of poetry or like scattering inferior dates. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not recite like you have recited. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite similar surahs (two at a time) in one rak'ah, for example, Surah Rahman and Surah Najm in one rak'ah. Then Abu Ishaq mentioned ten rak'ahs with twenty surahs; this arrangement was according to the compilation of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). The last surahs were Surah Takweer and Surah Dukhan.
Hadith 1607
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-Fatihah and the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah in the first rak'ah of the Sunnah before Fajr, and in the second rak'ah he would recite Surah Al-Fatihah and this verse of Surah Aal-e-Imran {قُلْ یأَھْلَ الْکِتَابِ تَعَالَوْا إِلٰی کَلِمَۃٍ سَوَائٍ بَیْنَنَا وَبَیْنَکُمْ … … }.
Hadith 1608
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Does any one of you like that when he returns home, he finds three large, fat, pregnant she-camels? We said: Yes, indeed. He (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Three verses which he recites in prayer are better for him than those (three she-camels).
Hadith 1609
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed one night and kept bowing and prostrating with the recitation of a single verse until morning. (That verse is:) {إِنْ تُعَذِّ بْہُمْ فَإِنَّہُمْ عِبَادُکَ، وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَھُمْ فَإِنَّکَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِیْزُ الْحَکَیْمُ} When morning came, I said: O Messenger of Allah! You kept reciting only one verse until morning and kept bowing and prostrating with it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I asked Allah Almighty to intercede for my Ummah, and He granted it to me, and if Allah wills, it will be granted to everyone who does not associate anything with Allah Almighty.
