Hadith 1586
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يَرْفَعَ الرَّجُلُ صَوْتَهُ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ قَبْلَ الْعِشَاءِ وَبَعْدَهَا يُغَلِّطُ أَصْحَابَهُ وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) forbade a person from reciting aloud before and after the Isha prayer, and from causing fellow worshippers to make mistakes.
Hadith 1587
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يَجْهَرَ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ بِالْقُرْآنِ
. (Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade people from reciting the Qur'an aloud to one another between Maghrib and Isha.
Hadith 1588
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ اعْتَكَفَ وَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ: ((أَمَا إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا قَامَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّهُ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ فَلْيَعْلَمْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَا يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ وَلَا يَجْهَرْ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was observing i'tikaf and delivered a sermon to the people, in which he also said: Beware! Indeed, when any one of you stands in prayer, he is whispering to his Lord, so he should understand the words of the whispering that he is making to his Lord, and (also remember that) no one should raise his voice in recitation over others during prayer.
Hadith 1589
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ حُذَافَةَ السَّهْمِيَّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَامَ يُصَلِّي فَجَهَرَ بِصَلَاتِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((يَا ابْنَ حُذَافَةَ! لَا تُسْمِعْنِي وَأَسْمِعْ رَبَّكَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Huzafah Sahmi (may Allah be pleased with him) was praying and reciting in a loud voice. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Ibn Huzafah! Do not make me hear, make your Lord hear.
Hadith 1590
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: اعْتَكَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَمِعَهُمْ يَجْهَرُونَ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ وَهُمْ فِي قُبَّةٍ لَهُمْ فَكَشَفَ السُّتُورَ وَقَالَ: ((أَلَا إِنَّ كُلَّكُمْ مُنَاجٍ رَبَّهُ فَلَا يُؤْذِيَنَّ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا وَلَا يَرْفَعَنَّ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ أَوْ قَالَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ))
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in i'tikaf. He heard people reciting (the Qur'an) aloud, while he was in a tent. He lifted the curtain and said: Beware! Surely each one of you is whispering to his Lord, so let no one harm another, and let no one recite aloud near another in prayer.
Hadith 1591
عَنِ الْبَيَاضِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ وَقَدْ عَلَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمْ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ فَقَالَ: ((إِنَّ الْمُصَلِّي يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَلْيَنْظُرْ مَا يُنَاجِيهِ، وَلَا يَجْهَرْ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ بِالْقُرْآنِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bayazi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the people while they were praying and their voices were raised with recitation. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, the one who is praying is whispering to his Lord, so he should pay attention to whom he is whispering, and no one should recite the Qur'an aloud over another.
