Hadith 1463
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ تَطَوُّعًا فِي السَّفَرِ لِغَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform voluntary prayers on his camel facing a direction other than the Qiblah.
Hadith 1464
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ تَطَوُّعًا اسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَكَبَّرَ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ خَلَّى عَنْ رَاحِلَتِهِ فَصَلَّى حَيْثُمَا تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to offer a voluntary prayer on his mount, he would first face the Qiblah and say Allahu Akbar for the prayer, then he would let his mount go wherever it wished, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would continue his prayer, regardless of which direction the mount turned.
Hadith 1465
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ وَعَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فِي التَّطَوُّعِ حَيْثُمَا تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ، يُوْمِئُ إِيمَاءً، وَيَجْعَلُ السُّجُودَ أَخْفَضَ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform voluntary prayers on his mount. Whichever direction it turned, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would gesture for bowing and prostration, and he would bend lower for prostration than for bowing.
Hadith 1466
وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلُهُ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a similar hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 1467
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ مُقْبِلًا مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ، وَفِيهِ نَزَلَتْ: {فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ}
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray on his mount while coming from Makkah to Madinah, and the mount would turn in whichever direction it wished. This verse was revealed regarding this matter: {أَیْنَمَا تُوَلُّوْا فَثَمَّ وَجْہُ اللَّہِ} (Wherever you turn, there is the Face of Allah).
Hadith 1468
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى حِمَارٍ وَهُوَ مُوَجَّهٌ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ وَهُوَ مُتَوَجِّهٌ) إِلَى خَيْبَرَ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, he says: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performing prayer on a donkey, in such a state that his, peace and blessings be upon him, face was towards Khaybar.
Hadith 1469
عَنْ نَافِعٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ التَّطَوُّعَ حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ، فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ: رَأَيْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ
Nafi' says: I saw Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) performing voluntary prayers on his mount, whichever direction it turned. When I mentioned this to him, he said: I saw Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) doing the same.
Hadith 1470
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ: تَلَقَّيْنَا أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حِينَ قَدِمَ مِنَ الشَّامِ فَلَقِيْنَاهُ بِعَيْنِ التَّمْرِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ لِغَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: إِنَّكَ تُصَلِّي إِلَى غَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ؟ فَقَالَ: لَوْ لَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مَا فَعَلْتُ
Anas bin Sirin says: When Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from Syria, we met him at the place of Ain al-Tamr. We saw that he was praying on his mount facing other than the Qiblah. So we said to him: "Do you pray facing other than the Qiblah?" He replied: "If I had not seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) doing so, I would not have done it either."
Hadith 1471
عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى ظَهْرِ رَاحِلَتِهِ النَّوَافِلَ فِي كُلِّ جِهَةٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing prayer on the back of his mount, facing every direction.
