7 hadith
Hadith 1410
Abu Nazrah bin Baqiyyah says that Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "It is Sunnah to pray in one garment. We used to do so with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and no fault was found with us." Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "But that was when there was a scarcity of clothes. Now, if Allah has granted abundance, then praying in two garments is more pure."
Hadith 1411
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Indeed, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying at night wrapped in a Hadrami sheet, and besides that, there was no (other garment) upon him.
Hadith 1412
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, says: A man called out to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and asked: Can a man pray in a single garment? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: Does everyone have two garments?
Hadith 1413
(Second chain) Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Do you recognize Abu Hurairah, that he would pray in a single garment while he had more clothes hanging on a peg (hanger).
Hadith 1414
Nafi’ reports that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: When a man has only one garment, he should use it as an izar (lower wrap) and perform prayer, because I heard Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saying this. And Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: When you have only one garment, do not wrap yourself in it in the manner that the Jews do. Nafi’ says: If I were to say that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) attributed this statement to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I hope I would not be considered a liar.
Hadith 1415
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform prayer wrapped in a single garment. Some people asked Abu Zubair whether it was an obligatory prayer. He replied: He used to perform both obligatory and non-obligatory prayers.
Hadith 1416
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Since I am out hunting, can I pray in just a shirt?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (You may pray) but fasten it, even if you find nothing but a thorn to do so.
