بَابُ الرُّخْصَةِ فِي تَأْخِيرِ الظُّهْرِ وَالْإِيرَادِ بِهَا فِي زَمَنِ الْحَرِّ
Chapter on the Concession of Delaying Dhuhr and Bringing It During Intense Heat
Hadith 1117
عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشَدَّ تَعْجِيلًا لِلظُّهْرِ مِنْكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ أَشَدُّ تَعْجِيلًا لِلْعَصْرِ مِنْهُمْ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We used to perform the Zuhr prayer with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the intense heat of midday, but then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed us: Perform this prayer after letting it cool down, for indeed, intense heat is from the steam of Hell.
Hadith 1118
عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((أَبْرِدُوا بِصَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ فَإِنَّ الْحَرَّ (وَفِي لَفْظٍ: فَإِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحَرِّ) مِنْ فَوْرِ جَهَنَّمَ))
Sayyiduna Safwan Zuhri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Perform the Zuhr prayer after letting it cool down, for indeed the heat (and in one narration, intense heat) is from the opening of Hell.
Hadith 1119
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِذَا كَانَ الْحَرُّ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: إِذَا اشْتَدَّ الْحَرُّ) فَأَبْرِدُوا بِالصَّلَاةِ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: بِالظُّهْرِ) فَإِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ)) وَذَكَرَ: ((أَنَّ النَّارَ اشْتَكَتْ إِلَى رَبِّهَا فَأَذِنَ لَهَا فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ بِنَفَسَيْنِ نَفَسٌ فِي الشِّتَاءِ وَنَفَسٌ فِي الصَّيْفِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the heat becomes intense, perform the Zuhr prayer after it cools down, because intense heat is from the steam of Hell. He further said: The Fire complained to its Lord, so He allowed it two breaths every year, one breath in winter and one breath in summer.
Hadith 1120
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِذَا اشْتَدَّ الْحَرُّ فَأَبْرِدُوا بِالصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ))
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the heat becomes intense, perform the prayer after cooling it down, for indeed, the severe heat is from the steam of Hell.
Hadith 1121
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلُهُ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) has also narrated a similar Hadith of the Prophet.
Hadith 1122
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ: ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُهَاجِرٍ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ مِنْ بَنِي تَيْمِ اللَّهِ مَوْلًى لَهُمْ قَالَ: رَجَعْنَا مِنْ جَنَازَةٍ فَمَرَرْنَا بِزَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ فَحَدَّثَ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَأَرَادَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ أَنْ يُؤَذِّنَ (زَادَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ: لِلظُّهْرِ) فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((أَبْرِدْ)) قَالَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، قَالَ: حَتَّى رَأَيْنَا فِي التُّلُولِ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ قَالَ: ((إِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ، فَإِذَا اشْتَدَّ الْحَرُّ فَأَبْرِدُوا بِالصَّلَاةِ))
Abu al-Hasan Muhajir says: We were returning from a funeral when we passed by Zaid bin Wahb, who narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: We were on a journey with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the muezzin wanted to give the call to prayer for Zuhr, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Cool it." He said this three times, until we began to see the shadows of the mounds. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, intense heat is from the steam of Hell, so when the heat becomes severe, cool the prayer."
