It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We performed the Maghrib prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then those who were to sit remained seated and those who were to leave went back. Suddenly, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and it was as if he was about to lift his garment from his knees, and he said: O assembly of Muslims! Rejoice, this is your Lord, He has opened one of the gates of the heavens and, boasting to the angels because of you, said: These are My servants, they have performed one obligatory act and are waiting for another obligatory act.

. (Second chain) There is a similar narration, except that in it: Before the people hurriedly gathered for the ‘Isha prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, while he was out of breath and had raised his finger in this manner. Then he tied a knot of twenty-nine to clarify the situation, and he pointed towards the sky with his index finger and said: Rejoice, ... mentioned the matter as in the previous hadith ... Allah Almighty says: O My angels! Look at My servants, they have performed one obligation and are waiting for another.

As long as this person waiting does not lose his ablution, the angels continue to pray for mercy upon him, while that person is in the state of the greatest ribat (spiritual vigilance).

It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A person among you remains in prayer as long as he waits for the next prayer, and as long as a person (after performing the prayer) remains at his prayer place, the angels keep supplicating for mercy for him, saying: O Allah! Forgive him and have mercy on him, as long as he does not lose his ablution. A man from Hadhramaut said: Abu Hurairah! What is meant by ḥadath (i.e., losing ablution)? He replied: Indeed, Allah does not shy away from the truth; it means passing wind or breaking wind.
