It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not enter the bathhouse without a lower garment (izar); likewise, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not let his wife enter the bathhouse; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit at a table where wine is being drunk; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not be alone with a woman with whom he is not a mahram, for the third among them will be the devil.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu 'Uzrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) states: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade men and women from (entering) public baths (hammams), then granted permission for men to bathe while wearing a lower garment (izar), and gave no permission to women.
Abu Malih says: Some women from Syria went to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). She said to them: Are you the women who enter bathhouses? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Any woman who removes her clothes anywhere other than her house has torn the veil between herself and Allah Almighty.
Saib reports: Some women from Homs came to Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). She asked them: Where are you from? They replied: We are from the region of Homs. Upon hearing this, the lady said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Any woman who removes her clothes anywhere other than her own house, Allah Almighty will tear away her veil.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not enter the bathhouse without a lower garment (izar), and any woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not enter the bathhouse (under any circumstances).
Sayyida Umm Darda (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met her, and he (peace be upon him) asked her: "Umm Darda! Where are you coming from?" She replied: "From the bathhouse." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Any woman who removes her clothes (outside her home), she tears the veil between herself and Allah the Exalted."
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: As soon as I came out of the bathhouse, I met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: Umm Darda! From where? I said: From the bathhouse. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul! Any woman who removes her clothes in a house other than that of her mothers, she tears every veil between herself and Allah Almighty.
