It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that if any one of us becomes in a state of janabah and then wishes to sleep, what should he do? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He should perform ablution as he does for prayer, then go to sleep.
(Second chain) A similar hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), except that in it: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed them to wash their private parts and perform the ablution for prayer.
Nafi’ reports: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Can a person sleep in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes, but he should perform ablution (wudu) as for prayer. Whenever Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to do so, he would perform ablution as for prayer, except that he would not wash his feet.
Hadith Takhrij«ھذا حديث تقدم مرفوعه برقم (900)۔ ولفظ القسم المرفوع منه عند عبد بن حميد: ((نعم ويتوضأ وضوء ه للصلاة ما عدا قدميه۔)) فجعل قوله ما عدا قدميه مرفوعا مع انه عند غيره موقوف علي ابن عمر۔ وأخرج فعل ابن عمر ھذا مالك في المؤطا : 1/ 48، وابن ابي شيبة: 1/ 60، والبيھقي: 1/ 200 ، (انظر مسند أحمد ترقيم الرسالة: 4929 ترقیم بيت الأفكار الدولية: 4929»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not ever sleep in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) without performing ablution (wudu).
Abdullah bin Khabbab reports that Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he becomes in a state of janabah while he intends to sleep. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed him to perform ablution and then go to sleep.
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would become junub and intended to sleep, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution as for prayer before sleeping and would say: Whoever intends to sleep in a state of janabah should perform ablution as for prayer.
