بَابٌ مَنْ طَافَ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ بِغُسْلٍ وَاحِدٍ أَوْ بِأَغْسَالٍ مُتَعَدِّدَةٍ
Chapter on One Who Had Intercourse with All His Wives with One Ghusl or Multiple Baths
Hadith 898
عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ (مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ) أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَافَ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: فِي يَوْمٍ) فَاغْتَسَلَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ غُسْلًا، فَقُلْتُ: (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: فَقِيلَ) يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! لَوِ اغْتَسَلْتَ غُسْلًا وَاحِدًا؟ فَقَالَ: ((هَٰذَا أَطْيَبُ وَأَطْهَرُ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: أَزْكَى وَأَطْيَبُ وَأَطْهَرُ)))
Mawla of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Abu Rafi‘ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) visited his wives during one night and performed ghusl of janabah after being with each one. Someone said: O Messenger of Allah! If you had performed only one ghusl at the end? He (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) replied: This is more pure and clean. In another narration, it is: “azka, wa atyabu, wa atharu”—these are words with nearly the same meaning.
Hadith 899
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَطُوفُ عَلَى جَمِيعِ نِسَائِهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: فِي لَيْلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ) بِغُسْلٍ وَاحِدٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to all his wives in one night (having intercourse with them, and at the end) would perform one ghusl (ritual bath).
