Hadith 867
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ: كَمْ يَكْفِينِي مِنَ الْوُضُوءِ؟ قَالَ: مُدٌّ، قَالَ: كَمْ يَكْفِينِي لِلْغُسْلِ؟ قَالَ: صَاعٌ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: لَا يَكْفِينِي، قَالَ: لَا أُمَّ لَكَ قَدْ كَفَى مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas that a man asked: How much water is sufficient for me for ablution? He replied: One mudd. The man asked: How much water is sufficient for me for bathing? He replied: One sa‘. Upon hearing this, the man said: This amount will not suffice for me. He (Ibn Abbas) said: May your mother lose you! This amount was sufficient for the one who is better than you, that is, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 868
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ بِإِنَاءٍ يَكُونُ رِطْلَيْنِ وَيَغْتَسِلُ بِالصَّاعِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution with a vessel containing two ritls of water and would perform ghusl with one sa’ of water.
Hadith 869
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْتَسِلُ بِالصَّاعِ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ بِالْمُدِّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl with one sa’ of water and wudu with one mudd of water.
Hadith 870
عَنْ سَفِينَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُوَضِّئُهُ الْمُدُّ وَيُغَسِّلُهُ الصَّاعُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ
Mawla-e-Rasool Sayyiduna Safina (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution with one mudd and would perform ghusl for janabah with one saa’.
Hadith 871
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ بِالْمُدِّ وَيَغْتَسِلُ بِنَحْوِ الصَّاعِ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution with one mudd of water and take a bath with the amount of one sa’ of water.
Hadith 872
عَنْ مُوسَى الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ: جِئْنَا بِعُسٍّ فِي رَمَضَانَ، فَحَزَرْتُهُ بِثَمَانِيَةِ أَوْ تِسْعَةِ أَوْ عَشَرَةَ أَرْطَالٍ، فَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ بِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا
Musa Jahni says: People brought a large bowl in Ramadan; I estimated that it was eight, nine, or ten ratl. Mujahid said: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl with a vessel of this kind.
