Hadith 857
Abdullah bin Salamah says: I and two men, all of us went to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). One man was from my tribe and, as I think, the other was from Banu Asad. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent them to one side and said to them: Both of you are strong men, so work diligently in the task I am sending you for. Then he went to a place to relieve himself, relieved himself, then came out from there and took a handful of water and washed his hands with it, and then began to recite the Holy Qur’an. When he saw that we did not understand his action correctly, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would also recite the Holy Qur’an after relieving himself and would eat meat with us, and nothing except major ritual impurity (janabah) would prevent him (peace and blessings be upon him) from reciting the Holy Qur’an.
Hadith 858
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us the Noble Qur'an, except when he was in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah).
Hadith 859
Abu Ghuraif says: Water for ablution was brought to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). He rinsed his mouth and put water into his nose three times each, washed his face three times, washed his hands and forearms three times, then wiped his head, and then washed his feet. Then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing ablution in this manner. Then, after reciting some verses of the Noble Qur’an, he said: Only that person can recite this who is not in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). As for the one who is in a state of janabah, he cannot recite, not even a single verse.
Hadith 860
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Angels do not enter a house in which there is a person in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), an image, or a dog.
