فَصْلٌ فِيمَا رُوِيَ فِي ذَلِكَ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Section on What Has Been Narrated Regarding That from Some Wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 804
عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ))
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Perform ablution after eating something cooked on fire.
Hadith 805
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَحْلَائَ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي سَلَمَةَ: إِنَّ ظِئْرَكَ سُلَيْمًا لَا يَتَوَضَّأُ مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ، قَالَ: فَضَرَبَ صَدْرَ سُلَيْمٍ وَقَالَ: أَشْهَدُ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ
Muhammad bin Tahlah says: I said to Abu Salamah: Your foster father Sulaim does not perform ablution after eating something cooked on fire. Upon hearing this, he struck his hand on Sulaim’s chest and said: I bear witness before the wife of the Prophet, Sayyida Umm Salamah (RA), that she testified about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution after eating something cooked on fire.
Hadith 806
عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ زِيَادَةُ وَكَانَتْ خَالَتَهُ) فَسَقَتْهُ قَدَحًا مِنْ سَوِيقٍ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَمَضْمَضَ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي! أَلَا تَتَوَضَّأُ؟ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ، أَوْ غَيَّرَتِ النَّارُ))
Abu Sufyan bin Saeed bin Mughira went to the wife of the Messenger, Lady Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was his maternal aunt. She gave him a bowl of sattu to drink, then he asked for water and rinsed his mouth, but the Lady said: O nephew! Will you not perform ablution? Because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Perform ablution from whatever has been cooked over fire.
Hadith 807
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ فَسَقَتْهُ سَوِيقًا ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّي، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: تَوَضَّأْ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ))
(Second chain) Abu Sufyan went to Lady Umm Habibah (RA), she gave him sattu to drink, he drank the sattu and stood up to pray, but the lady said: Nephew! Perform ablution, because I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Perform ablution after eating anything that has been touched by fire.
Hadith 808
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَالِثٍ بِنَحْوِهِ) وَفِيهِ: قَالَ: قَالَتْ لِي: أَيْ بُنَيَّ! لَا تُصَلِّيَنَّ حَتَّى تَتَوَضَّأَ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَتَوَضَّأَ مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ
(Third chain) There is a similar narration, except that in it: The lady said: Dear son! Never perform prayer until you have performed ablution, because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded us that whatever food is cooked over fire, after eating it we should perform ablution.
