بَابُ الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ
Chapter on Ablution After Eating Camel Meat
Hadith 795
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! أَأَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ؟ قَالَ: ((إِنْ شِئْتَ تَوَضَّأْ مِنْهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ لَا تَوَضَّأْ مِنْهُ)) قَالَ: أَفَأَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ؟ قَالَ: ((نَعَمْ، فَتَوَضَّأْ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ)) قَالَ: فَنُصَلِّي فِي مَبَارِكِ الْإِبِلِ؟ قَالَ: ((لَا)) قَالَ: أَنُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ؟ قَالَ: ((نَعَمْ، صَلِّ فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we perform ablution after eating goat meat? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you wish, perform ablution, and if you wish, do not perform ablution. He said: Then should we perform ablution after eating camel meat? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, perform ablution after eating camel meat. He said: Should we pray in the enclosures of camels? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No. He said: Should we pray in the enclosures of goats? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, pray in the enclosures of goats.
Hadith 796
عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلُهُ
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) has also narrated a similar hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 797
عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ ذِي الْغُرَّةِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: عَرَضَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسِيرُ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! تُدْرِكُنَا الصَّلَاةُ وَنَحْنُ فِي أَعْطَانِ الْإِبِلِ أَفَنُصَلِّي فِيهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((لَا)) قَالَ: أَفَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِهَا؟ قَالَ: ((نَعَمْ)) قَالَ: أَفَنُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((نَعَمْ)) قَالَ: أَفَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِهَا؟ قَالَ: ((لَا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhu al-Ghurrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was walking. He said: O Messenger of Allah! If the time for prayer comes while we are in the enclosures of camels, should we pray in them? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No. He said: Should we perform ablution with their meat? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. He said: Should we pray in the enclosures of goats? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. He said: Should we perform ablution with their meat? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No.
Hadith 798
عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَلْبَانِ الْإِبِلِ، قَالَ: ((تَوَضَّأُوا مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا)) وَسُئِلَ عَنْ أَلْبَانِ الْغَنَمِ، فَقَالَ: ((لَا تَوَضَّأُوا مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Usaid bin Hudair (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about performing ablution with the milk of camels. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Perform ablution with their milk. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the milk of goats, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not perform ablution with their milk.
