It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) slept in such a way that he began to breathe audibly, then when he got up, he performed prayer and did not perform ablution.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I spent the night at the house of my maternal aunt, Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up during the night, performed a light ablution, and began to pray. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) also did as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did, and then came and stood (on the left side of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) to pray. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned him and made him stand on his right side. Then he continued to pray with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After finishing, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lay down until he began to snore. Then the muezzin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (and informed him of the Fajr prayer), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went for the prayer and did not perform ablution again. In another narration, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had performed the two Sunnah rak‘ahs of Fajr, he lay down and began to snore. So we used to say to ‘Amr that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had said: My eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sleep in such a way that the sound of his snoring could be heard, then he would stand up and perform prayer without performing ablution. Ikrimah said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was protected.
