Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once delayed the ‘Isha prayer one night, until the people fell asleep, then woke up, then fell asleep again, then woke up again. Finally, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said: O Messenger of Allah! Lead the prayer. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and led the people in prayer. The narrator did not mention anything about him performing ablution.
Hadith 770
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (RA) narrates that the iqamah for the ‘Isha prayer was pronounced or one night the ‘Isha prayer was delayed, then a man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have some work with you. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to whisper with him until the people started to fall asleep, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer and no mention of ablution was made.
Hadith 771
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the noble Companions used to sleep and then would not perform a new ablution.
Hadith 772
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was a person who used to sleep a lot, so when I would offer Maghrib and my clothes were on me, I would fall asleep. Then once Yahya bin Saeed, while quoting Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), said: So I used to sleep before Isha. When I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) granted me permission.
