بَابٌ فِي اشْتِرَاطِ الطَّهَارَةِ قَبْلَ لُبْسِ الْخُفَّيْنِ
Chapter on the Condition of Purity Before Wearing Leather Socks
Hadith 738
عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: وَضَّأْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! أَلَا أَنْزِعُ خُفَّيْكَ؟ قَالَ: ((لَا، إِنِّي أَدْخَلْتُهُمَا وَهُمَا طَاهِرَتَانِ ثُمَّ لَمْ أَمْشِ حَافِيًا بَعْدُ)) ثُمَّ صَلَّى صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I performed ablution for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during a journey. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his face and arms, then wiped his head and also wiped over his socks. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Should I not remove your socks? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, when I put them on my feet were clean, and since then I have not walked barefoot. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Fajr prayer.
Hadith 739
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا أَنَّهُ سَافَرَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَادِيًا فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَأَتَاهُ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَخَلَعَ خُفَّيْهِ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ وَجَدَ رِيحًا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَعَادَ فَخَرَجَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ! نَسِيتَ لَمْ تَخْلَعِ الْخُفَّيْنِ؟ قَالَ: ((كَلَّا، بَلْ أَنْتَ نَسِيتَ، بِهَذَا أَمَرَنِي رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he traveled with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered a valley, relieved himself, then came out and performed ablution near me. He removed his leather socks (khuffs) and performed ablution. But when he finished, he felt some wind (in his stomach), so he returned again. Then he came back and performed ablution again, but this time he wiped over his socks. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Did you forget not to remove your socks? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: No, by no means; rather, you have forgotten. My Lord has commanded me to wipe over them in this manner.
Hadith 740
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((وَضِّئْنِي)) فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِوَضُوءٍ فَاسْتَنْجَى ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِي التُّرَابِ فَمَسَحَهَا ثُمَّ غَسَلَهَا ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! رِجْلَاكَ لَمْ تَغْسِلْهُمَا، قَالَ: ((إِنِّي أَدْخَلْتُهُمَا وَهُمَا طَاهِرَتَانِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring me water for ablution." So I brought water for ablution, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed istinja (cleaning after relieving oneself), then inserted his hand into the soil and rubbed it with it, then washed it and performed ablution, and in ablution wiped over his leather socks (khuffs). I said: "O Messenger of Allah! You did not wash your feet?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, when I put on the socks, my feet were pure." That is, at that time he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a state of ablution.
