Mawla of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He says, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent an army, and they felt cold during that journey. When they returned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), they complained about the cold. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed them: “Wipe (perform masah) over turbans and socks.”
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing ablution, and he wiped over the leather socks and the turban.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Umayyah Damri (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his leather socks and turban. In another narration, he says: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his leather socks and turban.
Abu Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I was with Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him), and he saw a man who had lost his ablution and wanted to take off his socks, but Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered him to wipe over his socks, forehead, and turban. Then he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his socks and turban."
Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) how the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed masah (wiping) over the leather socks. He replied: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) relieved himself, then had a vessel brought, and washed his face and hands, and performed masah over the leather socks and the turban.
Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he wiped over the «مُوْق» and the turban.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him), who, describing the ablution of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his face, washed his arms, wiped over his forehead and turban, and wiped over his leather socks.
