Hadith 531
عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يَتَنَفَّسَ فِي الْإِنَاءِ أَوْ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ أَوْ يَسْتَطِيبَ بِيَمِينِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that "a person should breathe into a vessel, or touch his private part with his right hand, or perform istinja (cleaning after relieving oneself) with his right hand."
Hadith 532
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كَانَتْ يَدُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْيُسْرَى لِخَلَائِهِ وَمَا كَانَ مِنْ أَذَى وَكَانَتِ الْيُمْنَى لِوُضُوئِهِ وَلِمَطْعَمِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The left hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was for istinja and other disliked things, and the right hand was for ablution and for eating food.
Hadith 533
عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: مَا مَسَسْتُ فَرْجِي بِيَمِينِي مُنْذُ بَايَعْتُ بِهَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: "Since the time I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with my right hand, I have not placed it upon my private parts."
Hadith 534
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْخُلُ الْخَلَاءَ فَأَحْمِلُ أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ نَحْوِي إِدَاوَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ وَعَنَزَةً فَيَسْتَنْجِي بِالْمَاءِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would enter the toilet, I and a boy like me would carry a water vessel and a spear, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would cleanse himself with water.
Hadith 535
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا تَبَرَّزَ لِحَاجَتِهِ أَتَيْتُهُ بِمَاءٍ فَيَغْسِلُ بِهِ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to relieve himself, I would bring water to him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform istinja (cleaning) with it.
Hadith 536
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْخَلَاءَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِتَوْرٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ فَاسْتَنْجَى، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِيَدِهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ غَسَلَهَا، ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ بِتَوْرٍ آخَرَ فَتَوَضَّأَ بِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that when the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered the toilet, I brought a vessel in which there was water. So he, peace and blessings be upon him, performed istinja with it, then rubbed his hand on the ground and then washed it. Then I brought another vessel and he, peace and blessings be upon him, performed ablution with it.
Hadith 537
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلَاءَ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَاسْتَنْجَى ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that when the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would enter the toilet, he would ask for water and perform istinja with it, then rub his hand on the ground, and then perform ablution.
Hadith 538
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا يَعْنِي قُبَاءَ، قَالَ: ((إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ أَثْنَى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الطُّهُورِ خَيْرًا، أَفَلَا تُخْبِرُونِي؟ قَالَ: يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ: {فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرُوا وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُطَّهِّرِينَ} قَالَ: فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! إِنَّا نَجِدُهُ مَكْتُوبًا عَلَيْنَا فِي التَّوْرَاةِ الْإِسْتِنْجَاءَ بِالْمَاءِ))
Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us, the people of Quba, he said: “Indeed, Allah Almighty has praised you people regarding purity. Will you not tell me (what deed you do)?” By this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) meant the statement of Allah Almighty: «فِيْہَا رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّوْنَ أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرُوْا ۚ وَاللّٰہُ يُحِبُّ الْمُطَّهِّرِيْنَ» They said: “O Messenger of Allah! We find mention in the Torah of cleansing with water (and so we act accordingly).”
Hadith 539
عَنْ عُوَيْمِ بْنِ سَاعِدَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاهُمْ فِي مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءَ، فَقَالَ: ((إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَدْ أَحْسَنَ عَلَيْكُمُ الثَّنَاءَ فِي الطُّهُورِ فِي قِصَّةِ مَسْجِدِكُمْ، فَمَا هَذَا الطُّهُورُ الَّذِي تَطَهَّرُونَ بِهِ؟)) قَالُوا: وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! مَا نَعْلَمُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَنَا جِيرَانٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ فَكَانُوا يَغْسِلُونَ أَدْبَارَهُمْ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ فَغَسَلْنَا كَمَا غَسَلُوا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Uwain bin Sa‘idah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to those people in the Mosque of Quba and said: “Indeed, Allah Almighty has mentioned your mosque and praised you well regarding purity, so what is this cleanliness that you adopt?” They said: “By Allah! O Messenger of Allah! There is nothing in our knowledge regarding this matter, except that the Jews were our neighbors and they used to wash their backsides after relieving themselves, so we also started washing that part like them.”
Hadith 540
عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي شَدَّادٌ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، أَنَّ نِسْوَةً مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَصْرَةِ دَخَلْنَ عَلَيْهَا فَأَمَرَتْهُنَّ أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيْنَ بِالْمَاءِ وَقَالَتْ: مُرْنَ أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ بِذَلِكَ، فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ، وَهُوَ شِفَاءٌ مِنَ الْبَاسُورِ، تَقُولُهُ عَائِشَةُ أَوْ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that some women from Basra came to her. Sayyida instructed them to perform istinja (cleaning after relieving oneself) with water themselves and to instruct their husbands to do the same, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform istinja in this manner, and this is also a cure for hemorrhoids. Whether this last sentence was said by Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) herself or by Abu Ammar (may Allah have mercy on him) is uncertain.
Hadith 541
(وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ) قَالَتْ: مُرْنَ أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ يَغْسِلُوا عَنْهُمْ أَثَرَ الْخَلَاءِ وَالْبَوْلِ، فَإِنَّا نَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ نَنْهَاهُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ
(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Bring me something with which I may perform istinja, and do not bring any decayed bone or dung near me."
Hadith 542
وَعَنْهَا أَيْضًا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَسَلَ مَقْعَدَتَهُ ثَلَاثًا
It is also narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his private part three times.
