Hadith 521
عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ لَهُ الْمُشْرِكُونَ: إِنَّا نَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ حَتَّى يُعَلِّمَكُمُ الْخِرَاءَةَ، قَالَ: أَجَلْ، إِنَّهُ يَنْهَانَا أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِيَمِينِهِ أَوْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَيَنْهَانَا عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالْعِظَامِ وَقَالَ: ((لَا يَسْتَنْجِي أَحَدُكُمْ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him), he states that the polytheists mockingly said to him: "We see that your Prophet even teaches you the manners of relieving yourselves." He replied: "Yes, absolutely. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us that a person should not clean himself with his right hand or face the Qiblah while relieving himself, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from cleaning ourselves with dung or bones. Also, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'No one should clean himself with less than three stones.'"
Hadith 522
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِذَا اسْتَجْمَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجْمِرْ ثَلَاثًا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you performs istinja with stones, he should use three stones."
Hadith 523
عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ الْإِسْتِطَابَةَ، (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: الْإِسْتِنْجَاءَ) فَقَالَ: ((ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khuzaymah bin Thabit Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned istinja (cleansing after relieving oneself) and said: "There should be three stones, and none of them should be dung."
Hadith 524
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِذَا ذَهَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ لِلْحَاجَةِ فَلْيَسْتَطِبْ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ فَإِنَّهَا تُجْزِئُهُ))
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you goes to relieve himself, he should perform istinja with three stones, for indeed they will suffice him."
Hadith 525
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّمَا أَنَا لَكُمْ مِثْلُ الْوَالِدِ أُعَلِّمُكُمْ، فَإِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ فَلَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوهَا وَلَا تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا وَلَا يَسْتَنْجِي أَحَدُكُمْ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I am like a father to you and I teach you just as a father does. So when any man goes to relieve himself, he should neither face the Qiblah nor turn his back towards it, and no man should perform istinja (cleaning) with less than three stones."
