It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from turning our back or face towards the Qiblah while urinating, but I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), one year before his passing, facing the Qiblah (while relieving himself).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: One day I climbed onto the roof of the house of Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) and saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) facing towards the direction of Shaam and with his back towards the Qiblah while relieving himself.

Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, said: For such a long time, I have not turned my private parts towards the Qiblah, but Iraq bin Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, narrated that Sayyida Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: When the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, learned that people disliked facing the Qiblah, he, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered that “his, peace and blessings be upon him, latrine be constructed facing the Qiblah.” In another narration: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Have people started thinking like this? Then turn my seat towards the Qiblah.”
