It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Harith Zubaidi (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: "I am the first person who heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'None of you should urinate facing the Qiblah.' And I am the first person who narrated this hadith to the people."

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) says, while he was in Egypt: "I do not know how I should use these toilets, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has said: 'When anyone goes to urinate or defecate, he should neither face the Qiblah nor turn his back towards it.'"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any person goes to relieve himself, he should not face the Qiblah; he should turn his face towards the east or the west." He says: When we came to Syria, we saw that the toilets were built facing the Qiblah, so we would turn away and seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I am like a father to you; when you go to relieve yourselves, do not face the Qiblah nor turn your back towards it." Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the use of dung and decayed bones (for cleaning after relieving oneself), and also said: "A person should not clean himself with his right hand."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) that a polytheist mockingly said: "I see that your Prophet even teaches you the manners of relieving yourselves." Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "Yes, absolutely," he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us that "we should not face the Qiblah nor turn our backs towards it (while relieving ourselves), nor use the right hand for cleaning, nor suffice with less than three stones, and none of them should be dung, manure, or a bone."
