Hadith 402
عَنْ كَبْشَةَ بِنْتِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ ابْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَسَكَبَتْ لَهُ وَضُوءَهُ فَجَاءَتْ هِرَّةٌ تَشْرَبُ مِنْهُ فَأَصْغَى لَهَا الْإِنَاءَ حَتَّى شَرِبَتْ، قَالَتْ كَبْشَةُ: فَرَأَنِي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: أَتَعْجَبِينَ يَا ابْنَةَ أَخِي؟ قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِنَجَسٍ، إِنَّهَا مِنَ الطَّوَّافِينَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَالطَّوَّافَاتِ)) وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: ((أَوِ الطَّوَّافَاتِ))
Sayyida Kabsha bint Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the wife of Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: She says that Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her and she had placed water for his ablution. In the meantime, a cat came and started drinking from that vessel. He tilted the vessel for it until it drank the water. Sayyida Kabsha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: When he saw me looking at him, he said, "O niece! Are you surprised?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, this cat is not impure. Indeed, it is among those who go around among you."
Hadith 403
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ حَدَّثَتْنِي امْرَأَةُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ كَانَ يُصْغِي الْإِنَاءَ لِلْهِرِّ فَيَشْرَبُ، وَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَنَا: ((أَنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِنَجَسٍ، إِنَّهَا مِنَ الطَّوَّافِينَ وَالطَّوَّافَاتِ عَلَيْكُمْ))
The wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) tilted a vessel for a cat, so it drank water. Then he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, this cat is not impure. Indeed, it is among those (animals) that move around among you."
Hadith 404
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ وُضِعَ لَهُ وَضُوءُهُ، فَوَلَغَ فِيهِ السِّنَّوْرُ فَأَخَذَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَقَالُوا: يَا أَبَا قَتَادَةَ! قَدْ وَلَغَ فِيهِ السِّنَّوْرُ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ: ((السِّنَّوْرُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ وَإِنَّهُ مِنَ الطَّوَّافِينَ وَالطَّوَّافَاتِ عَلَيْكُمْ))
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his father that water for ablution was placed for him, and a cat drank from it, but he began to perform ablution with it. People said: "O Abu Qatadah! The cat has drunk from it," he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The cat is from among the household, and it is among those who go around you (males and females) frequently."
