بَابٌ فِي أَنْ غَسْلَ الرَّجُلِ مَعَ زَوْجَتِهِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ لَا يُسَبِّبُ طَهُورِيَّةَ الْمَاءِ

Hadith 363
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَإِنَّا لَجُنُبَانِ، وَلَكِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يَجْنُبُ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and I used to perform ghusl from a single vessel when we were both in a state of janabah, but the water would not become impure due to janabah."
Hadith 364
عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَكَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنَ الْقَدَحِ وَهُوَ الْفَرَقُ
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and I used to perform ghusl from a single vessel, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ghusl from a vessel that was equal to the measure of one faraq."
Hadith 365
عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ الْعَدَوِيَّةِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهَا قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَأَنَا أَقُولُ لَهُ: أَبْقِ لِي، أَبْقِ لِي
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and I used to perform ghusl from a single vessel, and I would say to him: Leave some for me, leave some water for me."
Hadith 366
(وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ بِنَحْوِهِ) وَفِيهِ: فَأُبَادِرُهُ وَأَقُولُ: دَعْ لِي دَعْ لِي
(Second chain) There is a similar narration, except that in it is: "So I would try to get ahead of you and say: Leave some for me too, leave some for me too."
Hadith 367
عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا حَدَّثَتْهُ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ هِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ يَغْرِفُ قَبْلَهَا وَتَغْرِفُ قَبْلَهُ، (وَفِي لَفْظٍ) كَانَ يَبْدَأُ قَبْلَهَا
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that she and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl from the same vessel; he (peace be upon him) would scoop water before her, and she would scoop water before him. In one narration it is mentioned: "He (peace be upon him) would begin before Sayyidah."
Hadith 368
عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ
It is narrated from Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: "I and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl from one vessel."
Hadith 369
عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ هِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْتَسِلَانِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ وَكَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that she and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl for janabah from the same vessel, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would also kiss her while he was fasting.
Hadith 370
عَنْ نَاعِمٍ مَوْلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا سُئِلَتْ: أَتَغْتَسِلُ الْمَرْأَةُ مَعَ الرَّجُلِ؟ فَقَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، إِذَا كَانَتْ كَيِّسَةً، رَأَيْتُنِي وَرَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَغْتَسِلُ مِنْ مِرْكَنٍ وَاحِدٍ نُفِيضُ عَلَى أَيْدِينَا حَتَّى نُنْقِيَهَا ثُمَّ نُفِيضُ عَلَيْنَا الْمَاءَ
Mawla Um Salamah Na'im, may Allah have mercy on him, says that Sayyida Um Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, was asked whether a woman can perform ghusl (ritual bath) with her husband. She said: "Yes, but when she is sensible. I have seen myself and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that we used to perform ghusl from one tub and would pour water on our hands until we cleaned them, and then would pour water over our bodies."
Hadith 371
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ تَغْتَسِلَانِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَكَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ بِخَمْسِ مَكَاكِيَّ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ بِمَكُّوكٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: "The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and one of his wives used to perform ghusl from a single vessel, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would perform ghusl with five makooks and perform wudu with one makook."
Hadith 372
عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ سَرْجٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ صُبَيَّةَ الْجُهَنِيَّةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا تَقُولُ: اخْتَلَفَتْ يَدِي وَيَدُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ
Sayyida Umm Sabiyah Juhaniyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: "For ablution, my hands and the hands of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) were alternately entering the vessel."
Hadith 373
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ الرِّجَالَ وَالنِّسَاءَ يَتَوَضَّؤُونَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), he says: "I saw that during the Prophetic era, men and women used to perform ablution from the same vessel."
Hadith 374
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) أَنَّ الرِّجَالَ وَالنِّسَاءَ كَانُوا يَتَوَضَّؤُونَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْإِنَاءِ الْوَاحِدِ جَمِيعًا
(Second chain) Indeed, during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), men and women used to perform ablution together from the same vessel.
Hadith 375
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَالِثٍ) قَالَ: كَانَ النِّسَاءُ وَالرِّجَالُ يَتَوَضَّؤُنَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَيَشْرَعُونَ فِيهِ جَمِيعًا
(Third chain) In the Prophetic era, women and men used to perform ablution together from the same vessel and would begin together.
