Hadith 328
Abdur Rahman bin Amr Salmi and Hajar bin Hajar Kalai (may Allah have mercy on them) say: We went to Sayyiduna Irbad bin Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him), he was among those about whom this verse was revealed: «وَلَا عَلَی الَّذِیْنَ اِذَا مَآ اَتَوْکَ لِتَحْمِلَہُمْ قُلْتَ لَآ اَجِدُ مَآ اَحْمِلُکُمْ عَلَیْہِ» (There is no blame upon those who come to you so that you may provide them with mounts, and you say, "I do not find anything to carry you upon.") (Surah Tawbah: 92) We greeted him and said: "We have come to visit you, to inquire about your health, and to benefit from your knowledge." Sayyiduna Irbad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Fajr prayer one day, then turned to us and gave us such an effective and eloquent sermon that eyes wept and hearts trembled. One of the people said: "O Messenger of Allah! This seems like a farewell sermon, so what do you advise us?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I advise you to fear Allah, and to listen and obey (your leaders), even if he is an Abyssinian slave. For indeed, whoever among you lives after me will see much disagreement, so adhere to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Caliphs, hold onto it firmly, and beware of newly invented matters, for every innovation is a misguidance."
Hadith 329
(Second chain) There is a similar narration, except that in it: We said, "O Messenger of Allah! This is a farewell sermon and advice, so what do you advise us?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, I am leaving you upon a clear Shari'ah, whose night is like its day. No one will go astray from it except the one who is doomed to perish." And whoever among you lives (he narrated the rest of the narration as in the previous hadith), so whatever of my Sunnah you recognize, hold firmly to it. (And in this it is also stated:) So adhere to it strictly, for the believer is like a bridled camel, wherever it is led, it follows obediently."
Hadith 330
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Before me, whenever Allah Almighty sent any prophet to any community, there were disciples from among his community who acted upon his Sunnah and followed his commands. Then, after them, incompetent people succeeded them, who would say what they did not do, and would do what they were not commanded to do."
Hadith 331
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) says: We were on a journey with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so when he passed by a certain place, he moved to one side of it. He was asked why he did so. He replied: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) do the same, so I did it as well."
Hadith 332
It is narrated from Hasan bin Jabir (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma’dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) declared certain things forbidden on the day of Khaybar and then said: “It is near that one of you will belie me while reclining on his couch, and after my hadith is narrated, he will say: ‘The Book of Allah is sufficient between us and you. Whatever we find lawful in it, we will consider lawful, and whatever we find unlawful in it, we will consider unlawful.’ Beware! Indeed, whatever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has declared unlawful is like what Allah the Exalted has declared unlawful.”
Hadith 333
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma’dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Beware! I have been given the Qur’an and something like it along with it. Beware! Soon there will be a man, reclining on his couch, who will say: ‘Hold fast only to the Qur’an; whatever you find in it as lawful, consider it lawful, and whatever you find in it as unlawful, consider it unlawful.’ Beware! The domestic donkey and the predatory animal with fangs are not lawful for you, nor is the lost property of a dhimmi lawful for you, unless its owner has given up hope of it. And if people stay with a nation, it is incumbent upon that nation to host them. If they do not host them, it is permissible for the guests to take from their wealth an amount equivalent to their hospitality.”
Hadith 334
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I certainly, certainly know that a time will come when a narration from me will reach one of you while he is reclining on his couch, and he will say: ‘I do not find this command in the Book of Allah.’”
Hadith 335
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I know among you a person to whom my hadith will reach, while he will be reclining on his couch, and he will say: 'Recite to me (only) the Qur'an; whatever good thing reaches you from me, whether I have said it or not, then I have said it; and if any evil thing reaches you, then I am not the one who says evil.'"
