Hadith 259
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when three people passed by. One of them turned towards the gathering, saw an empty spot, and sat there. The second sat behind the people, and the third went away. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Shall I not inform you about these three people?” The companions said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah!” He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The one who came forward and sat down, he sought a place and Allah granted him a place. The one who sat behind you, he felt shy and Allah was shy with him. And the one who went away, he turned away and Allah turned away from him.”
Hadith 260
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) said about the person who sits in the middle of a gathering: "According to the blessed words of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a curse has been pronounced upon this person."
Hadith 261
Abdullah bin Abdur Rahman, may Allah have mercy on him, says: I have heard that Hazrat Luqman, peace be upon him, said: "O my beloved son! Do not acquire knowledge in order to boast before the scholars, to argue with fools (and the ignorant), or to seek fame and respect in gatherings."
Hadith 262
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever hears a word of wisdom and does not attribute it to the one who said it, but only narrates what he has heard of evil, his example is like that of a man who came to a shepherd and said: O shepherd! Give me a goat that is fit for sacrifice. The shepherd said: Go and grab the ear of the best goat (and take it). But he went and grabbed the ear of the shepherd's dog and took it away."
