It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Zaid Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Fajr prayer and then ascended the pulpit and continued to address us until the time of the Zuhr prayer. Then he descended and led the Zuhr prayer, after which he again ascended the pulpit and began to address us until the time of the Asr prayer arrived. He descended, led the Asr prayer, and then again ascended the pulpit and continued the address until sunset. Thus, whatever had happened and whatever was to happen, he (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us of all of it. So, the most knowledgeable among us was the one who remembered the most.

Sayyiduna Hanzalah the scribe (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he addressed us on the subject of Paradise and Hell, so much so that it seemed as if they were before our very eyes. Then I got up and went to my family and spent time laughing and playing with my wife and children. Then I remembered that state which had overcome me in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I set out and met Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "O Abu Bakr! Hanzalah has become a hypocrite." He said: "How is that?" I said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he preached to us about Paradise and Hell until it seemed as if they were before our eyes, but when I went to my family, I became busy laughing and playing with my wife and children (forgetting that state)." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Indeed, we do the same." Hearing this, I went to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and related the whole matter to him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Hanzalah! If your state in your homes were the same as it is with me, the angels would shake hands with you on your beds and in your streets with their wings. But, O Hanzalah! Sometimes like this, and sometimes like that."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the noble Companions said to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, when we are with you and you speak to us, our hearts become tender, but when we leave your presence, we become occupied with the work of our wives and children and do such things (and the state we had with you disappears)." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If you were to remain in the state you are in when you are with me, then the angels would shake hands with you."
