Hadith 143
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِلَالًا فَنَادَى فِي النَّاسِ أَنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا نَفْسٌ مُسْلِمَةٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed Sayyiduna Bilal, may Allah be pleased with him, to announce among the people that only and only a Muslim soul will enter Paradise.
Hadith 144
عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا (يَعْنِي بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ) عَنِ الْقَتِيلِ الَّذِي قُتِلَ فَأَذَّنَ فِيهِ سُحَيْمٌ؟ قَالَ: كُنَّا بِحُنَيْنٍ فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُحَيْمًا أَنْ يُؤَذِّنَ فِي النَّاسِ أَنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: أَلَا لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ) إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ
Abu Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) about the one who was killed, regarding whom Sayyiduna Suhaim (may Allah be pleased with him) had made an announcement. He said: We were at Hunain when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Suhaim (may Allah be pleased with him) to announce among the people that only and only a believer will enter Paradise.
Hadith 145
۔عَنْ أَبِی الزُّبَیْرِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا (یَعْنِی بْنَ عَبْدِ اللّٰہِؓ) عَنِ الْقَتِیْلِ الَّذِیْ قُتِلَ فَأَذَّنَ فِیْہِ سُحَیْمٌ؟ قَالَ: کُنَّا بِحُنَیْنٍ فَأَمَرَ النَّبِیُّ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سُحَیْمًا أَنْ یُؤَذِّنَ فِی النَّاسِ أَنَّہُ لَا یَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّۃَ (وَفِی رِوَایَۃٍ: أَ لَا لَا یَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّۃَ) اِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ۔ (مسند أحمد: 14823)
Abu Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) about that murdered person regarding whom Sayyiduna Suhaim (may Allah be pleased with him) had made an announcement. He said: We were at Hunain when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Suhaim (may Allah be pleased with him) to announce among the people that only and only a believer will enter Paradise.
Hadith 146
- عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيْدِ وَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: ((إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيَحْمِي عَبْدَهُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَهُوَ يُحِبُّهُ كَمَا تَحْمُوْنَ مَرِيضَكُمْ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ تَخَافُونَهُ عَلَيْهِ ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty protects His believing servant from the world (and its wealth and possessions), even though He loves him. Its example is just like you fear for your sick person and keep him away from food and drink."
Hadith 147
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((الْمُؤْمِنُونَ فِي الدُّنْيَا عَلَى ثَلَاثَةِ أَجْزَاءٍ، الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوا وَجَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَالَّذِي يَأْمَنُهُ النَّاسُ عَلَى أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِي إِذَا أَشْرَفَ عَلَى طَمَعٍ تَرَكَهُ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three types of believers in the world: (1) Those who believed in Allah and His Messenger and then did not fall into any doubt, and strove in the way of Allah with their wealth and their lives; (2) The person about whom other people feel secure regarding their wealth and lives; and (3) The person who looks towards greed but abandons it for the sake of Allah Almighty."
Hadith 148
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ غِرٌّ كَرِيمٌ وَإِنَّ الْفَاجِرَ خَبٌّ لَئِيمٌ))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A believer is simple-hearted and noble, while a wicked person is deceitful, treacherous, and vile (and despicable)."
Hadith 149
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: الْمُؤْمِنُ عِنْدِي بِمَنْزِلَةِ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ يَحْمَدُنِي وَأَنَا أَنْزِعُ نَفْسَهُ مِنْ بَيْنِ جَنْبَيْهِ))
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah Almighty says: In My sight, the believer is at the station of every kind of goodness and virtue. I am drawing out his soul from his sides, and even at that time he is praising Me."
Hadith 150
وَعَنْهُ فِي أُخْرَى أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَيُنْضِي شَيَاطِينَهُ كَمَا يُنْضِي أَحَدُكُمْ بَعِيرَهُ فِي السَّفَرِ))
In another narration reported from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, the believer wearies his devils just as one of you wearies his camel during a journey."
Hadith 151
عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ: ((أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِالْمُؤْمِنِ، مَنْ أَمِنَهُ النَّاسُ عَلَى أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ وَالْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ، وَالْمُجَاهِدُ مَنْ جَاهَدَ نَفْسَهُ فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ وَالْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَجَرَ الْخَطَايَا وَالذُّنُوبَ))
Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said during the Farewell Pilgrimage: “Shall I not tell you about the believer? The believer is the one from whom people are safe regarding their wealth and lives. The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe. The Mujahid is the one who strives against his own self in obedience to Allah Almighty, and the Muhajir is the one who abandons mistakes and sins.”
Hadith 152
عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَلِيٍّ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو بْنِ الْعَاصِ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((تَدْرُونَ مَا الْمُسْلِمُ؟)) قَالُوا: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: ((مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ)) قَالَ: ((تَدْرُونَ مَنِ الْمُؤْمِنُ؟)) قَالُوا: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: ((مَنْ أَمِنَهُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَالْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَجَرَ السُّوءَ فَاجْتَنَبَهُ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know who is a Muslim?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know who is a believer?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A believer is the one from whom other believers are safe regarding their lives and wealth, and a migrant is the one who abandons evil and refrains from it."
Hadith 153
(وَعَنْهُ فِي أُخْرَى) سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((الْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ وَالْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَجَرَ مَا نَهَى اللَّهُ عَنْهُ))
In another narration from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe, and a Muhajir (emigrant) is the one who abandons what Allah the Exalted has forbidden."
Hadith 154
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((الْمُؤْمِنُ مَأْلُوفٌ، وَلَا خَيْرَ فِيمَنْ لَا يَمْأَلُ وَلَا يُؤْلَفُ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A believer is such a being in whom there is affection, and there is no good in the person who neither befriends anyone nor is befriended by others."
Hadith 155
عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: أَخَذَ بِيَدِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لِي: ((يَا أَبَا أُمَامَةَ! إِنَّ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَنْ يَلِينُ لِي قَلْبُهُ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and said to me: "Abu Umamah! Indeed, there are some believers whose hearts become (very) soft for me."
Hadith 156
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! إِنِّي أَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ فَلَا أَجِدُ قَلْبِي يَعْقِلُ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّ قَلْبَكَ حُشِيَ الْإِيمَانَ وَإِنَّ الْإِيمَانَ يُعْطَى الْعَبْدَ قَبْلَ الْقُرْآنِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I recite the Qur'an, but I see that my heart does not understand it?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your heart is filled with faith, and a servant is given faith before the Qur'an."
Hadith 157
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! إِنِّي أُحَدِّثُ نَفْسِي بِالْحَدِيثِ، لَأَنْ أَخِرَّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ، قَالَ: ((ذَلِكَ صَرِيحُ الْإِيمَانِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Some thoughts come into my mind such that I would prefer to fall from the sky rather than speak about them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is a clear sign of faith."
Hadith 158
(وَعَنْهُ بِلَفْظٍ آخَرَ) قَالَ: قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! إِنَّا نَجِدُ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا مَا يَسُرُّنَا نَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ وَإِنَّ لَنَا مَا طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ، قَالَ: ((أَوَجَدْتُّمْ ذَلِكَ؟)) قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: ((ذَكَ صَرِيحُ الْإِيمَانِ))
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, with these words: The people said, "O Messenger of Allah! We feel such thoughts within ourselves that even if we were given all the things upon which the sun rises, it would not please us to speak about them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Have you truly felt this?" They replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This is a clear sign of faith."
Hadith 159
وَأَيْضًا عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((لَا يَقُولُ أَحَدُكُمْ لِلْعِنَبِ الْكَرْمَ، إِنَّمَا الْكَرْمُ الرَّجُلُ الْمُسْلِمُ))
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No person should call grapevines 'karm', for indeed, the truly noble (karm) is the Muslim person."
Hadith 160
(وَعَنْهُ فِي أُخْرَى) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((يَقُولُونَ الْكَرْمَ، وَإِنَّمَا الْكَرْمُ قَلْبُ الْمُؤْمِنِ))
In another narration reported from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "People call grapevines 'Karam', whereas true 'Karam' is only the heart of a believer."
Hadith 161
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ! إِنَّ مَثَلَ الْمُؤْمِنِ لَكَمَثَلِ الْقِطْعَةِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ، نَفَعَ عَلَيْهَا صَاحِبُهَا فَلَمْ تَغَيَّرْ وَلَمْ تَنْقُصْ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ! إِنَّ مَثَلَ الْمُؤْمِنِ لَكَمَثَلِ النَّحْلَةِ أَكَلَتْ طَيِّبًا وَوَضَعَتْ طَيِّبًا وَوَقَعَتْ فَلَمْ تَكْسِرْ وَلَمْ تُفْسِدْ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Indeed, the example of a believer is like a piece of gold; when the owner blows upon it (after putting it in the furnace), it neither changes nor diminishes. By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Indeed, the example of a believer is like a honeybee; it eats that which is pure (like a flower), produces that which is pure (like honey), and when it sits on something, it neither breaks it nor spoils it.”
Hadith 162
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَمَثَلِ السُّنْبُلَةِ تَخِرُّ مَرَّةً وَتَسْتَقِيمُ مَرَّةً، وَمَثَلُ الْكَافِرِ كَمَثَلِ الْأَرْزِ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: الْأَرْزَةِ) لَا يَزَالُ مُسْتَقِيمًا حَتَّى يَخِرَّ وَلَا يَشْعُرُ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of a believer is like that of a wheat plant, which sometimes bends down and sometimes stands upright, and the example of a disbeliever is like that of a pine tree, which always remains standing straight until it falls down, while it has no awareness at all."
Hadith 163
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: ((مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَمَثَلِ الْفَرَسِ عَلَى آخِيَّتِهِ يَجُولُ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ عَلَى آخِيَّتِهِ، وَإِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَسْهُو ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى الْإِيمَانِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of a believer is like that of a horse tied with a ringed rope; it wanders around, but eventually returns to its rope. Indeed, a believer forgets, but then returns to faith."
Hadith 164
عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: ((الْإِسْلَامُ ذَلُولٌ لَا يَرْكَبُ إِلَّا ذَلُولًا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam is ease, and it is granted only to the one who is gentle."
