Hadith 63
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, before coming to you, I had sworn more oaths than these that I would neither come to you nor accept your religion." The narrator Bahz joined both his palms together to indicate this. In another narration, it is: "Until I had sworn as many oaths as the number of my fingers that I would neither come to you nor accept your religion." In any case, now I have come to you, while I am a person who understands nothing except those matters which Allah Almighty and His Messenger will make me understand. Now, I beseech you by Allah's essence, tell me: With what has our Lord sent you to us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "With Islam." He said: "O Messenger of Allah! What is the sign of Islam, what is Islam?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That you say: I have submitted my face (i.e., myself) to Allah and I have turned away (from the religion of polytheism), then you establish prayer, pay zakat, and every Muslim is forbidden to another Muslim."

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Two helping brothers, Allah Almighty does not accept any deed from a polytheist after he accepts Islam, until he leaves the polytheists and joins the Muslims."

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "What is the matter with me that I am seizing you from the rooms to save you from the Fire? Beware! Surely my Lord is the One Who will call me, and He will ask me: 'Did you convey My message to My servants?' And I will answer saying: 'O my Lord! I conveyed it to them.' Beware! Those who are present should convey this message to those who are absent."

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Then you will be called (on the Day of Resurrection), while your mouths will be tied shut," and he, peace and blessings be upon him, pointed towards his thigh and said: "The first thing to speak will be this." In another narration: "The first things to speak on your behalf will be your thigh and your palm." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Is this our religion?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "This is your religion, and wherever you do good, it will suffice you."
