Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the polytheists said to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Muhammad! Tell us the lineage of your Lord," Allah Almighty revealed this Surah: «قُلْهُوَاللَّهُأَحَدٌ٭اللَّهُالصَّمَدُ٭لَمْيَلِدْوَلَمْيُولَدْ٭وَلَمْيَكُنلَّهُكُفُوًاأَحَدٌ»[الإخلاص: 1-4] "Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Self-Sufficient. He neither begets nor is born. And there is none comparable to Him." The full meaning of al-Samad is: «الْمَصْمُودُإِلَيْهِفِيالْحَوَائِجِ،الْغَنِيُّعَنْكُلِّأَحَدٍ.» (He is the One to whom people turn for their needs, while He is free of need from everyone and independent).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty says: Some of My servants belie Me, though it does not befit them to do so, and some abuse Me, and this too is not befitting for them. The way they belie Me is that a servant says: Just as Allah created us the first time, He will not create us again. And the way they abuse Me is that a servant says: Allah has a child, whereas I am so self-sufficient that I neither begot anyone nor was I begotten, and there is none equal to Me."

It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Satan comes to one of you and says: Who created the sky? He says: Allah, the Exalted, did. Then he asks: Who created the earth? He replies: Allah, the Exalted, did. Then he asks: So who created Allah, the Exalted? So when any of you feels this question, let him say: «آمَنْتُبِاللَّهِوَبِرُسُلِهِ» (I believe in Allah, the Exalted, and His Messengers)."

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says that people complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about the whispers they felt in their hearts and said: "O Messenger of Allah! We feel such things that to express them with our tongues seems harder to us than falling from the sky." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is pure faith."
