It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tufail bin Amr Dausi (may Allah be pleased with him), that he came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you desire a strong fortress and honor and protection? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the days of ignorance, the Daus tribe had a fortress. Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declined his offer for the sake of that which Allah Almighty had reserved for the Ansar. Then, when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) migrated, Sayyiduna Tufail bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) and another man from his tribe also migrated. They found the climate and atmosphere of Madinah unsuitable, and that man became ill. Then, displaying impatience, he took a sharp blade and cut the joints of his fingers. Blood began to flow from his hands until he died. Sayyiduna Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him in a dream in a good state, but he had covered his hand. He asked him: What did your Lord do with you? He said: He forgave me because of my migration to His Prophet. He asked: Why do I see you covering your hand? He said: Allah Almighty said to me: That which you yourself have ruined, We will not rectify. When Sayyiduna Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) related this dream to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: O Allah! Forgive his hands as well.
