Hadith 9982

A man from Banu Thaqif narrates, he says: We asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about three things, and he did not grant us concession in any of them. We requested him to return Abu Bakrah to us; he was a slave and had accepted Islam before us, but the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: No, he is freed by Allah Almighty and then by His Messenger. Then we asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, for concession regarding purification because there is severe cold in our area, but he did not grant us concession. Then we sought permission from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to use gourd vessels, but he did not grant us concession in that either.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … When a slave belonging to disbelievers becomes Muslim, he is set free. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) later permitted the use of vessels made from gourds. In times of necessity, it is permissible to perform tayammum (dry ablution) in place of ghusl (ritual bath) and wudu (ablution), but the excuse of these people was not such that this concession should be granted to them.
