It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever does an evil deed, he will be recompensed for it in this world.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu, he says: When {مَنْیَعْمَلْسُوءًایُجْزَبِہِ} was revealed, this was hard upon the Muslims, so they complained about it to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He said: “Be moderate and remain steadfast, and in everything that befalls the believer there is expiation for his sins, even if a thorn pricks him or he is afflicted by some hardship.” …
When this verse was revealed {مَنْیَعْمَلْسُوءًایُجْزَبِہِ} (“Whoever does an evil deed will be recompensed for it.”), it was difficult for the Muslims, and they complained about it to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: Adopt moderation in all matters and remain firm upon the right path; in every trial that befalls a believer, there is expiation for his sins, even if a thorn pricks him or he faces some difficulty.
