Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There are two types of eloquence (bayan): (1) That eloquence by which the intent of the speaker becomes clear, regardless of the language used. (2) That eloquence in which the words are made beautiful with care and spoken with affectation, so that the hearts of the listeners incline towards the orator and they become astonished and amazed at his skill. Such eloquence can be praiseworthy or blameworthy: if it is used to support the truth and lead people towards honesty, then it is praiseworthy; but if it is used to promote falsehood and to present the ugly as beautiful, then it is blameworthy. In between, the orator must also consider whether there is any scent of ostentation or display in his speech.
