Hadith 99

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated a similar hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with the only difference being that instead of asking "Which Islam is best?" the question was asked: "Which Muslims are best?"

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This hadith indicates the greatness and sanctity of a Muslim. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Every Muslim is sacred to another Muslim: his honor, his wealth, and his blood are inviolable. Taqwa (piety) is here (pointing to his chest). It is enough evil for a person that he should look down upon his Muslim brother.” (Jami‘ Tirmidhi: 1927)

The perfection of a Muslim’s life is that just as he is mindful of fulfilling the rights of Allah, he also not only refrains from causing any harm to the servants of Allah, but also safeguards their honor and sanctity. Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Whoever defends the honor of his Muslim brother, Allah will turn the fire of Hell away from his face on the Day of Resurrection.” (Jami‘ Tirmidhi: 1931) Whoever is not cautious regarding the rights of people (huquq al-‘ibad), will suffer great loss on the Day of Resurrection.
