Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, while defining tale-bearing (namimah), said: “Transmitting the speech of some people to others in order to cause discord among them.” (Bayhaqi: 10/246) In another narration it is stated: “That tale-bearing which causes discord among people.” In the present era, everyone considers himself free of blame and innocent, and is seen complaining about others. The requirement of the Shariah is that whenever we begin to make someone the subject of discussion, we should reflect on what the purpose of this speech is. Will speaking aggressively about a brother create hatred and malice in the hearts of the listeners towards him? And there is no greater social corruption and disorder than creating suspicion about a person. Tale-bearing (namimah) is among the major sins.
