Hadith 9807

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I do not fear poverty for you, rather I fear the desire for abundance; and I do not fear that you will make mistakes unintentionally, rather I fear that you will knowingly disobey.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is understood that the harm of poverty is less than the harm of wealth, because the hardship of poverty is related to this world, whereas wealth, more often than not, causes harm to religion. As Allah Ta‘ala has said: {کَلَّا ٓ اِنَّ الْاِنْسَانَ لَیَطْغٰٓی۔ اَنْ رَّاٰہُ اسْتَغْنٰی} … No indeed! Surely man definitely transgresses. Because he sees himself as self-sufficient. (Surah Al-‘Alaq: 6, 7)
