Hadith 9758

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Whenever the Noble Prophet addressed us, he used to say in it: That person has no faith who has no trustworthiness, and that person has no religion who does not keep his promises and covenants.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Committing betrayal is a very grave crime; this vile act is a characteristic of the hypocrite. There is no compromise between faith (iman) and betrayal (khiyanat). Whatever a person betrays, he will bring it on his shoulders on the Day of Resurrection. What a scene that will be: camels, cows, goats, etc., loaded upon a person's back, and they will be making their natural sounds.

Nowadays, government officials in general and political leaders in particular consider looting the national treasury as their personal right, and they are utterly incapable of distinguishing between what is lawful (halal) and unlawful (haram). The funds of zakat committees are not distributed among the deserving, but rather among relatives or friends. And the majority of the general public, wherever and in whatever manner they get the opportunity, do not let the prey go to waste—whether it is in the form of stealing from government institutions or seizing government land. All of these are acts of betrayal (khiyanat), for which punishment will have to be endured.
