Hadith 9744

عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِنْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ لَيَتَكَلَّمُ بِالْكَلِمَةِ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَصِيرُ بِهَا مُنَافِقًا وَإِنِّي لَأَسْمَعُهَا مِنْ أَحَدِكُمُ الْيَوْمَ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: In the time of the Prophet, if a person spoke in this manner, he would become a hypocrite because of it, and now I hear such things from you ten times in a single gathering.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … One should avoid careless speech; some people, in ordinary conversation, utter extremely obscene curses, some even go so far as to make jokes about the Shari‘ah, and some call each other accursed (la‘nati) and disbeliever (kafir).
