Narrated by Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely your lineage is not a cause of disgrace or shame for anyone, because you are all the children of Adam, and you are less than a full measure (that is, none of you is complete and perfect, each one has some deficiency). And no one has any superiority or excellence over another except on the basis of religion and righteous deeds. It is sufficient for a man to be considered bad if he is foul-mouthed, ill-spoken, ill-mannered, miserly, and cowardly.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The wording of one narration from Ibn Jarir is as follows: “People, in relation to Adam and Hawwa (rahimahallah), are like the handful of a measure that has not been filled. Indeed, Allah will not ask you about your lineage or your ancestry on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous (muttaqi) among you.” … All people are descended from Adam (alayhis salam) and Hawwa (rahimahallah). People are like that measure which has not been filled. Surely, Allah, the Exalted, will not question you about your lineage or ancestry; among you, the most honored in the sight of Allah is the one who is the most righteous.
There is no excellence in a person being a Sayyid, Awan, Rajput, Arain, Janjua, Warraich, Gadhi, Lodhi, etc., because when all nations trace their lineage back, the end of all lineages will be Adam (alayhis salam). In Allah, the Exalted’s, selection, health and well-being, strength and power, awe and grandeur, poverty and wealth, beauty and charm, possessions and property, family greatness and perfection, and lineage and ancestry have no role. The basis of the Lord Most Majestic’s selection is the piety (taqwa), righteousness, and goodness of His servants; whoever excels in this regard will be that much more honored in the sight of Allah, the Exalted.
In conclusion, while mentioning blameworthy traits, it is said that if a person is characterized by obscenity in speech, foul language, bad character, miserliness, and cowardice, then these very traits are sufficient for his being considered bad.
